Since ancient times, the Silk Road has been central to cultural interactions between the regions and countries it traverses. Today, Inspired by the Silk Road spirit of peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefits, the “belt and Road” initiative promotes complementary and reciprocal cooperation among different countries in fields including economy, culture and tourism, and fosters friendship across different peoples, a the Silk Road is our common heritage that connects us all. Selected from ever 8,000 works by 330 photographers who attended the 5th World Photography Conference, the photos in this exhibition capture the natural beauty and tell stories about culture, traditions and peoples Initiative the Silk Road around eight topics, namely, “Our Homes”, “How “Our Faces”, How We Grow Up”, “Our Traditions”, “Our Friendship”, “Our Harvest” and “Our Festivals. The “Belt and Road” initiative originated in China, but it has delivered benefits well beyond its borders. China also believes that when it comes to different civilizations, exchange will replace estrangement, mutual learning will replace clashes, and coexistence will replace sense of superiority. This exhibition is curated to further illustrate such a belief to international audience, and advocate the increase of knowledge and appreciation across different cultures, for mutual understanding cross-cultural dialogues is not only important for international cooperation under the “belt and Road” Initiative, but also plays a crucial role in global efforts to build a community of shared future for mankind.
