On January we opened “Bridges of Culture” Shanghai Exhibition. A series of 3 themed activities
including Cultural and Creative Product Exhibition, Photography Exhibition, Jewish Refugees and

Speaking of bridges of culture, we were honoured to host the amazing Jerusalem A-Cappella
Singers, conducted by Judi Axelrod, who presented an impressive vocal concert in different
languages crossing the silk road all the way from China to Italy.
At the end of the month following the International Holocaust Remembrance Day we screened the
film “Nanjing! Nanjing! City of Life and Death”. A film by the director Lu Chuan, that deals with
the Battle of Nanjing and the following massacre committed by the Japanese army during the
Second Sino-Japanese War (1937).
February was full of new year celebrations. 2019 is the year of pig- a symbol of wealth and luck
in the Chinese Tradition. We were happy to host the main new year gala of the embassy with a
special concert combining traditional and contemporary music by Loft Peking Trio and the opera
singer Gan Lulu.
It’s not a real Chinese New Year celebration without a dance performance at Suzanne Dellal Center.
This time, the leading modern dance group in China “Beijing modern dance group”, brought into life
the Blooming of Time in a very special performance about the seasons, and the connection between
human and earth.
We closed New Year celebrations with “Evening Party” ethnic dance performance by Gansu Province
music and dance group, who also conducted a dance workshop at “Hakvutsa” school of dance.
After all these new year celebrations, how about a cop of Te? We were excited to invite you to a festive
Chinese tea lunch event including a traditional tea ceremony, tea tasting and a cocktail.
What an amazing way to open the year of 2019!
