1. Zhang Hongyan
Zhang Hongyan is dean of Traditional Chinese Instruments Department of Central Conservatory of Music, executive director of Pipa Committee of China Nationalities Orchestra Society, deputy secretary-general of Pipa Society of China Musicians Association, member of All-China Youth Federation, and director of Chinese Culture Promotion Society.
2. Li Han
Li Han is a lecturer in guzheng (a Chinese plucked zither) at Central Conservatory of Music. Her guzheng works include “Shaohua” (guzheng and chamber music), “Suihan” (guzheng and piano), and Chinese instrument trios “Wudao” and “Lianjie”.
3. About the Troupe
The Chinese Folk Music Orchestra of Shanxi Provincial Sing and Dance Theatre, founded in 1962, is a multi-part, well-trained orchestra and has a certain influence at home and abroad. Over the years, the orchestra has performed across mainland China and visited the United States, France, Singapore, Chile, Mexico, as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan. It has been well received both at home and abroad. The orchestra, which has always been committed to utilizing, collating, studying and developing Chinese folk music, has produced a host of instrumental works of Chinese national styles and Shanxi’s local characteristics, such as suona (a Chinese oboe) work “Sanduimian”, wind instrument and percussion work “Dadesheng”, percussion work “Xiwen Wuyun”, percussion and orchestra work “Jinshatan”, pipa concerto “Impression of Yungang”, large-scale folk music symphonic poem “Guan Gong”, and folk music orchestral work “Impression of Shanxi”.
