When Dong Jinhe retired he decided to return to his hometown and founded “Jinhe Agricultural Experience Garden”. He believes, living in a place like this, surrounded by mountains and rivers releases you physically and mentally. This need of nature especially by people in the cities is the reason he started this project. Whoever wants to get back to nature and have an authentic village experience can this rural tourism.
Jinhe’s garden experience is based on the 24 solar term in the Chinese calendar showing the traditional cultivation culture of Dabie mountains. But is this business profitable? Well, he believes the key to success lays in the growing number of people in the cities who feel nostalgia and want to experience nature.
After 5 year of hard work the small poor and isolated mountain village has become an open agriculture museum, benefiting more than 2000 farmers. Xiaonanjing village case is a successful model of poverty alleviation through tourism in Jinhai County, Anhui province of China. Find out more in the video
